When I was a kid in second grade, at the end of recess one of the teachers would blow a whistle before the bell would ring. We were supposed to line up, wait for the bell and then march into our classrooms. One day, when I ran to line up, I accidentally ran into the kid ahead of me. He turned around, slugged me and said, “Sorry, but I had to do that.” Now, if he’d hit me really hard, I might have slugged him back. Then we would have started exchanging slug for slug because the tit for tat attitude leads to escalation. Problem is if we are prone to getting even, we’ll become prisoners to those who offend us. Fortunately, there is an alternative called forgiveness. Forgiveness leads to a free and peaceable life. Choose forgiveness today. If you need help with that, give us a call. Comment here.
