Buying Love

by

There was a period of time during my working career when I had a terrible boss who was mean and ruthless. As a junior executive with the company, he once fired a supplier and gave the contract to another. His supervisor complemented him for his decisive action, and so he thought firing people was the way to manage. When he came into our department to supervise, we repeatedly watched him zero in on someone, give him a hard time, and then fire him. Periodically, to make himself not look so bad, he’d buy the department gifts in order to try to gain their respect. Most of us in the department could see through what he was doing, and the bribes didn’t work.

Many of us often try to “buy” our way in life to make us feel better about who we are and what we are doing. Yet this way of life lacks integrity and others will see right through it. Are you a person of integrity? Let us know if you’d like to talk further about this. Comment here.
